Little Charm Quilt – Verna by Kate Spain
An original “recipe” from Moda Fabrics
Moda have given us another charm quilt that is soooooooo simple to make. It’s quick, easy and perfect for a beginner. It uses one Charm fabric pack and some border and sashing fabric. There is a bonus carry bag pattern with this project, also. Our sample quilt is hanging in the shop and we have kits available for this one.

Silk Ribbon Embroidery with Bernie Varkevisser
Work at your own pace!
Join Bernie on the 1st Wednesday of the month to learn how to fold, twist, stitch, knot and manipulate silk ribbons to create an original embroidered masterpiece. In each lesson you will be introduced to the basics and move onto more advanced procedures. Bernie is such a creative and generous teacher, be sure to give silk ribbonwork a go! You may join these lessons at any time.

Bernina GTKYM (get to know your machine)
Want to know a little more about your new machine? How do I do that buttonhole, again? What is this foot for? Jan will be reviewing the basics of your new BERNINA sewing machine and sharing a few tips and hints.

Sewing for Beginners with Kelley
- Stitch it Up!
Learn to make clothing with Kelley our resident and very talented seamstress! Just purchase one of our garment patterns and come along to sew. Kelley will guide you in cutting and constructing your project. Sew skirts, tunics, tops, aprons and more. Excellent workshops for beginners or anyone who would like a few extra tips and hints.

Getting Even Wilder with Wool Felts Bags
A creative workshop with Bernie Varkevisser
Select a wool felt shoulder bag or clutch purse to embellish in this slightly crazy, but definitely fun workshop. Anything goes! It’s all GOOD.

Layer Cake Quillo
What’s a Layer Cake? Is it yummy? Well, if you love fabrics like we do then YES! It’s Yummy! A Layer Cake is a stack of 10” fabric squares and they are perfect for creating this very simple and easy quilt/quillo. When you don’t need to use this quilt to snuggle up under, it folds up into a pillow! Our quillo sample has the addition of cuddly chenille for that extra soft touch. This quilt workshop is great for those who are new to patchwork or anyone who enjoys making a warm and thoughtful gift.

Let the Fireworks begin! Jan has wanted to teach this class for ages and we are excited to finally be able to offer it. This foundation pieced quilt or wall hanging was created using a collection of gorgeous batik fabrics. The quilts star patterns appear to be a burst of fireworks. All stitching is done using foundation paper with your sewing machine. It’s like painting by numbers. Too easy!

Make it Cozy or a Summer Garden Quilt
Having fun with Jelly Roll / Layer Cake Quilts
Layer Cakes are packs of 10″ fabric squares and Jelly Rolls are 2 1/2″ wide strips of fabric. These fabric packs certainly save a lot of cutting time. We have two quilt options for you to make in this workshop.
Make it Cozy is a super simple quilt that uses one jelly roll and some cozy chenille squares. Snuggle up. We have kits available for this quilt.

Sewing Children’s Clothing
These workshops suit all skills from beginners and onwards
Jan Smith is your tutor for these “anything is possible” lessons. Discover easy ways to create fun and stylish outfits for young children (0 – 5 years) with the book Making Children’s Clothing by Emma Hardy. By combining a few quick-to-learn stitches with great fabrics and trims, you can make beautiful and practical clothes for your children. Choose from any of the 25 different projects, including party frocks and pinafore dresses, simple shirts and pants, sleepwear and accessories.

Machine Quilting Workshops with Deborah Louie
“Let’s Quilt” an Introduction to Machine Quilting.
This is the best place to start. Learn the steps you need to begin quilting your projects.

– 2 day Free Motion Quilting workshop.
This is the perfect next step for students who have completed Deborah’s Introduction class or students new to this form of quilting. This workshop is designed to boost your skills and designing confidence. Have fun quilting with the free motion foot and the endless possibilities it can help you achieve. Free motion quilting with stencils for sashes, blocks and borders will be covered. Explore how to alter stencil designs to create your own unique style.

Learning Needle Turn Applique
Learn the fine art of needle turn applique on this beautiful wreath that will teach you inside and outside curves and points, vines and leaves. Like most things, it’s easy once you know how and Daiva will share all the tricks she has picked up along the way. The right fabrics, threads, needles, etc. make all the difference and by the end of the lesson you will know how to achieve the finest result. You will learn how to choose applique patterns or how to alter them to suit your skill level. With a bit of practice you will have the confidence to take on any applique job. Turn your project into a cushion or centerpiece for a quilt.

Daisy Dreams Cot Quilt

This is one of our Favourites!
Bright and easy, a simply perfect cot size project. The fuzzy chenille daisies and bold lines of ric rac make it special and fun. We have kits available for this class or create your own combination.

Create a Workshop
• This is your opportunity to design your own workshop. If there is a particular stitching skill you would like to learn or the timing for a particular class hasn’t worked out, talk to your friends, gather together a group of at least 5 people and we will attempt to set up a date for you. This has been very successful for visitors from out of the local area and though our calendar always seems to be pretty busy, we will do our best to fit in your special event.
Bear With Us
Our social teddy bear makers group meet every 4th Wednesday of the month from 10am to 12:30pm. If you enjoy making teddy bears or would like to know how, then come along and enjoy being part of this very social and lively group.
Wednesday June 30th, July 28th, August 25th, September 22nd, October 27th, etc.

Information about our classes:
- Book early and pay a 50% deposit to secure your class position as numbers are limited.
- Classes may be cancelled or postponed at our discretion and any deposit will be fully refundable.
- You may cancel a class up to 10 days prior to the first class session and receive a refund of monies paid. NO class fees will be refunded after that time.
- All classes will require a Basic Sewing kit – i.e. scissors, threads, needles, washable marking pen, tape measure
- Some classes will require a sewing machine and accessories in good working order.
- Copyright laws prohibit sharing and photocopying. Some classes will require each student to have their own pattern or book.
- Mobile phones should be turned OFF or set to ring very, very quietly as a courtesy to other students.
- Children and guests are not allowed in classes.
